From best to worst, AW9ACE Teen Patti hands usually run: Trail, Pure Sequence, Sequence, Color, Pair, High Card. Three Aces sit on top. That's the classic order, and it's the thing to learn first, since a wrong ranking is the costliest mistake a new player makes at a table. Your table's rules screen has the final word.

The ranking, with the odds

The last column is plain maths on a single 52-card deck, for any three cards you're dealt.

HandWhat it isExampleHow often
TrailThree of a kind7 7 70.24%
Pure SequenceRun in one suitJ Q K of hearts0.22%
SequenceRun in mixed suits4 5 63.26%
ColorOne suit, no run3 8 Q of diamonds4.96%
PairTwo of a kindK K 216.94%
High CardAnything elseA 9 374.39%

Look at the bottom row. About three hands in four are only a high card, so a pair is better than it feels. And a Sequence beats a Color even though new players often guess the other way, as in five-card poker. And Trails rank on top even though Pure Sequences are slightly rarer.

AW9ACE's own page calls some of these by poker names, "straight" and "flush". Those mean Sequence and Color here.

When both hands are the same type

  • Higher rank wins, so a pair of Kings beats a pair of 10s.
  • Same pair? The odd card decides.
  • Color or High Card: compare top cards, then second, then third.
  • A K Q is the best run. Where A 2 3 falls differs by table, so check.

A hand, start to finish

Everyone puts in the boot, the opening stake. Three cards each. You choose to play blind, without looking, or seen. AW9ACE confirms both options. In classic play, blind costs less per turn, and looking moves you up to the seen stake. Then you take turns: chaal keeps you in, pack folds. What you've paid stays in the pot. Betting runs until a show, and the best hand takes the pot, unless everyone else packed first.

Is 3 Patti different?

AW9ACE lists Teen Patti and 3 Patti as two games, and describes them nearly the same way: a standard deck, three cards each, blind or seen, highest hand wins. Treat them as cousins and read each table's rules. Then there's the AK47 tile. In the home game of that name, Aces, Kings, 4s and 7s act as wild cards, and that would turn the table above upside down. Check before you sit down.

Table habits that save money

  • Pack a weak hand early. Nobody's counting.
  • Money already in the pot isn't yours now, so don't stay in to "protect" it.
  • Choose a stake that lets you sit through plenty of hands.
  • Avoid hack and card reader apps. They're scams.
